SCHOOL BOARD OPENING
The Manistique Area Schools is currently seeking an individual interested in filling a
vacant seat on the Board of Education. The individual must be a resident of the school
district and the appointment will be until December 31, 2022. All interested candidates
should submit their request in writing to the Superintendent’s office at the Manistique
Area Schools by 12:00 noon on Wednesday, June 22, 2022.
What Do Board Members Do?
A school board, working with its community, has four major leadership responsibilities and an unlimited amount of decisions to make on a wide range of issues.
Leadership Responsibilities

To envision the district’s education future and set goals and define strategies to guide the district toward that vision.

To hire a superintendent who’ll effectively implement the board’s policies and manage the district to accomplish its goals.

To monitor and assess the district’s performance and to keep the public informed and engaged.

To advocate for students and public schools within the community, state and national levels.
